To qualify for this national designation, workplaces must submit an online application to demonstrate they provide a variety of transportation options for their employees, such as telework, carpooling, transit, bicycling, vanpooling, or a compressed workweek.

DATA Promotes the School Pool Program at Virginia Statewide Private School Conference
Every year the Virginia Association of Independent School’s (VAIS) organizes a Learning Conference that focus on topics such as Prioritizing students social-emotional growth, Teacher-driven professional development, innovative work in the areas of diversity, inclusion, and equity, and project- based teaching and learning.
Last November, Dulles Area Transportation Association staff attended the conference to promote DATA’s School Pool program. The School Pool program was created through funding from the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation and a partnership between Commuter Connections and local schools. School Pool is an interactive, on-demand utility to help parents within the same neighborhoods connect with each other to form carpools, walking groups or biking groups to and from school. So far, DATA has worked with 6 private schools in the Dulles area and registered 130 children in this program.
If you would like your child’s school to participate in this great program, please contact Sarah McGowan at smcgowan@datatrans.org or 703-963-3658.
The Great Traveling Van Show Stops at the Cushing Park & Ride Lot
On December 23, 2019 DATA’s “Great Travelling Van Show” stopped by the Cushing Park & Ride to promote vanpooling. The windy evening did not stop our holiday spirit to gave away candy canes and promote the great subsidy available to commuters in the Dulles Area.
The Great Travelling Van Show program is designed to introduce commuters to the many advantages of vanpooling through a four-month trial, incorporating incentives and subsidies.
The information kiosk has visited the Herndon, Reston, Chantilly, and Westfields areas. DATA has worked with major employers such as National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), Aerospace, Oracle, Reston Town Center, North West Federal Credit Union and the Westfields Business Owners Association.
One last thing, did we mention the FIRST MONTH is FREE for start-up vans?
